Internet Marketing Tips That Garner More Leads Than Ever Before ...

Posted by cagoraman on 29th June, 2012 ?

Internet marketing has been around for a long time now and is growing with time. If you want to be successful with internet marketing, you need to learn the following techniques.

As an online marketer, you have to find fresh ways to get more conversions and get sales. So, not only do you have to get traffic, you also have to make sales from that traffic. Although you can get this done in numerous ways, using videos for product promotion is growing more and more popular every day. Videos are starting to become a mainstay on the web and many people, especially internet marketers are beginning to understand that they have real value. Although it has become quite commonplace, internet marketers use video marketing to get traffic to their sites and blogs. But you can go a step ahead and use videos on your sales page to talk about the product you?re selling. Being an online marketer, you can replace your normal sales copy with your video or you can use it as an addition to your promotion presentation. The reason that videos are so popular is because they are more interactive and visual than regular print copy. When you possess a video on your website that can actually show your customer the attributes of a particular product, it is easier to get their attention. This is because while watching a video, he/she uses all of his senses, making the experience more vivid and believable. There are times when people find video content easier to consume than going through long sales letters. Also, if your video delivers the message, a lot of your prospective customers won?t close it until it is over. A lot of leading online marketers are using video marketing quite successfully, why aren?t you? Once you begin your journey into a web business and making Internet marketing a part of it, then you will fast figure out the need to choose one thing out of several possibilities every single working day. That is part of the reason most new marketers have such a tough time with it.

But still, that is really no reason to stress over it because it is just a normal part of all business. We understand the feeling of wanting to know it all, but the really good news is you do not have to know it all, right away or even ever. It is normal to make mistakes, and that is something you can look forward to because they will never end. It is like anything else you start learning, in time the errors will be less and you will be more confident. Often times all you need to do is take enough action with any new method, or group of them, that you employ in your business. If you want to be successful at internet marketing, you have to develop a system for being better than the competition. Being an Internet marketer, sometimes it gets difficult to actually stay ahead of the other competitors, given that the World Wide Web is huge. The only method to deal with this is to make up your own unique selling angle so that you will be different from everyone else. Your USP should not only be about your product but also about how you present and market it. For instance, if you want to promote a relationship eBook, you might want to find out what makes your eBook more special and unique from the others. Once you find that unique viewpoint, sell it until the cows come home.

Your website traffic must be targeted traffic. Don?t believe the companies that promise to get you so much traffic for a certain amount of money. You want the traffic of interested people and not just surfing traffic.

In closing, internet marketing is very easy once you learn the steps to take. The tips that we discussed above give us a clear idea of what to expect and how to approach marketing online the right way.

Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi, Mayor Ed Lee face off at ethics hearing

SAN FRANCISCO -- Fighting to save his career, Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi told the city's Ethics Commission Friday he committed a crime by bruising his wife's arm during an argument but also initially believed political foes could have been behind calls for his prosecution and resignation.

Mirkarimi, elected sheriff in November, acknowledged sending a Jan. 12 text message to his campaign manager in which he wrote that a "loud drumbeat needs to vibe that this is a political witch hunt." He testified that he believed at the time his campaign opponents might have been encouraging calls for him to step down.

Mayor Ed Lee, who in March suspended Mirkarimi without pay and cited him for misconduct after the sheriff pleaded guilty to misdemeanor false imprisonment in connection with the New Year's Eve argument, testified hours later that it's the mayor's duty to decide on "a case-by-case basis" whether an elected official's criminal conviction amounts to official misconduct.

Lee said he suspended Mirkarimi because of the significance of the role of sheriff as one of the top law enforcement positions in the city. The mayor said he would find it "extremely difficult" to work with Mirkarimi if he's able to get his job back.

"I came to the conclusion that he committed domestic violence," Lee said, adding that Mirkarimi's brief stay in the jail he runs and subsequent plea helped him make his decision.

Mirkarimi's attorney, Shepard Kopp, later

asked Lee if he was telling the commission he could not work with Mirkarimi in the same vein as he does with City Attorney Dennis Herrera, who ran against him for mayor last year.

"Are you telling the commission that you refuse to carry out your duties?" Kopp asked Lee.

"I'm not going to refrain from any of my duties," the mayor replied.

Kopp later asked Lee if he could put aside his differences and work with the embattled sheriff if the proceedings fail to remove Mirkarimi from office.

"Yes," Lee said.

Lee's testimony was halted for about 90 minutes after police received an apparent threat of car bombs near City Hall and another undisclosed building, authorities said. No devices were discovered.

In his second day of testimony, Mirkarimi was asked Friday by defense attorney David Waggoner whether he can still be effective as sheriff -- and he said he could.

"I realize the uphill battle that has now been laid in front of me, and I believe that to the eyes of everybody it would seem almost impossible for me to rise to that standard," he said.

Yet, he said, San Francisco has specialized in justice that allows personal redemption, adding: "Never in my wildest dreams did I believe I would become an example of that redemptive process."

Deputy city attorney Peter Keith questioned Mirkarimi about his early efforts to downplay the situation. "Sheriff, is domestic violence a private family matter?" Keith asked.

"It is not," Mirkarimi replied, acknowledging saying just that in January sent the wrong message to the public.

The sheriff said he knew when he made the remark that he had injured his wife, Venezuelan former telenovela star Eliana Lopez, and committed a crime.

Mirkarimi agreed that domestic violence is an underreported crime that often remains hidden if witnesses don't come forward. But he testified he made no efforts to dissuade Ivory Madison, the neighbor who sparked the investigation, by giving her videotape of a tearful Lopez to police, or to smear her in the media.

When Lee gave the just-sentenced Mirkarimi a resign-or-be-suspended ultimatum, "you had let down the sheriff's department?" Keith asked.

"Yes," Mirkarimi said. But asked whether he should've resigned, he replied "that given the choice that was presented to me by the mayor, I did exactly as I should."

Later, questioned by Waggoner about the argument, Mirkarimi said "I wish I could turn back the clock, of course; I feel horrible, ashamed."

Mirkarimi, a San Francisco supervisor from 2005 until his election as sheriff in November, hadn't even been sworn in when he had the altercation with Lopez. He was sentenced to one day in jail, three years of probation, one year of domestic-violence counseling, 100 hours of community service and a fine.

The hearing's next public sessions are scheduled for mid-July, although lawyers will spar in coming weeks over whether certain parts of witnesses' written declarations are admissible as evidence.

Eventually the five-member Ethics Commission will make a recommendation to the Board of Supervisors, which ultimately will vote on whether to kick Mirkarimi out of office.

Embraer, Boeing to Partner on KC-390 Military Transport Jet

Brazil's leading planemaker Embraer (IW 1000/644) and the U.S. behemoth Boeing (IW 500/15) on Tuesday agreed to share technical know-how and market analysis to spur development of Embraer's KC-390 military aircraft. Luiz Carlos Aguiar, chief executive officer of Embraer's defense and security unit, and Dennis Muilemburg, CEO of Boeing Defense, Space and Security, signed a deal for collaboration on Brazil's medium-lift military transport aircraft. Aguiar said Embraer hopes to capitalize on Boeing's vast knowledge of the global military transport market, including its experience in developing the Boeing C-17. "Boeing has extensive experience in military transport and air refueling aircraft, as well as deep knowledge of potential markets for the KC-390," he told a press conference. Muilenburg said the C-17, a large military transport aircraft used by air forces of several countries, and the KC-390 were "a natural fit." "Our goal is to look for new opportunities to expand the market for the KC-390 and make it as successful globally as the C-17 has been," he added. The collaboration between two of the world's leading aviation firms will take the form of technical information sharing and joint analysis of market prospects for the KC-390. "It will be a partnership of equals that does not involve remuneration, with both sides putting in resources," Aguiar said.

AboutOne (beta)

Families of any size need a way to centralize and back up their most important information, such as medical histories, deeds to major purchases, and priceless photos. AboutOne (free) is an online hub where you can upload files, jot down important information about your loved ones, and otherwise manage all the paperwork and data that's associated with running a household.

AboutOne Use
AboutOne is simple to use and has decent search functionality, which is crucial for a service of this type. Unfortunately, it doesn't contain enough built-in suggestions for how to use it or reasons to log in often. Other online family organizers (Doxo comes to mind) encourage you to use the service by aggressively steering you toward different areas of the site every time you log in. Doxo can also link with utility providers and other billed services, much as Mint.com connects with financial accounts and paid services, giving you more reason to log in frequently. With AboutOne, on the other hand, it's easy to forget you have an account, because there's no compelling reason to visit the site?until a disaster strikes.

Set Up and Features
Signing up for an account takes little more than entering an email address, creating a password, and setting up a few additional security login measures. Once you have an account, AboutOne begins by having you enter information about your family, including pets. You can fill in details such as birthday, sex, blood type, and social security number.

Aside from entering information about family members, you can also add contacts and inventory your possessions. The contacts manager lets you import other address books as well, such as those stored in Facebook and Google.

Two other key features, a family calendar and centralized place for documents, show up as icons on the site but aren't available as of this writing (the site is technically still in beta). I should hope that by the time the site is launched in full, documents integrate neatly with possessions. If I were to list a vehicle that I own, I would also want to attach directly to it documentation for the license, registration, insurance, and any warranties associated with it, rather than stick that paperwork in a separate area.

Beta? You Betchya
AboutOne remains in beta, and having had a deeper look at its functionality and lack of finish, it's clear that it is. AboutOne understands the need to centralize important family information, but hasn't quite figured out the best way to do so yet. What's holding the service back at the moment is a compelling reason for users to return and continually update their information. It needs a hook, like Doxo's integration with services and bill pay, to keep people coming back.

The Secrets of Power Negotiating by Roger ... - Business Negotiation

7:00 AM By Article Directory

'; div.innerHTML = summary; } //]]> The Secrets of Power Negotiating by Roger Dawson The Secrets of Power Negotiating by Roger Dawson

Roger Dawson is known both as a motivational speaker, and as a real estate master. He has been a professional public speaker for almost 30 years. Before then, he was a real estate master and an employer of up to 540 people in 28 different offices at one point. Anyone that has bought a home, or a piece of property knows all to well that there is a tenuous negotiation process involved. Beyond real estate, it's mind boggling to think of the negotiations that we practice everyday, and we might not even realize it. Some people are very successful negotiators. These are the people who seem like they get everything that they want from life. Then again, there are those that seem like they can't catch a break in any area of their life. They might have poor relationships. They might not be advancing in their careers. Maybe they've bought the house of the vehicle for far more money that they could have. These are the people who need to learn negotiation skills. There is a book for people like these, or for people who want to take their negotiation skills up a few notches. That book is called The Secrets of Power Negotiating, by Roger Dawson.

In The Secrets Of Power Negotiating, the reader will be taught negotiating skills from every angle. Actually, there will be two main angles to focus on: your angle, and theirs. Roger Dawson want to leave the impression overall, that a successful negotiation happens when both parties walk away feeling like they've both gained something. It's always good when both parties leave the negotiation feeling satisfied. However, Roger Dawson goes in step further in the book The Secrets Of Power Negotiating, by teaching the reader to make the other person feel satisfied, even if the bargain isn't slanted in their favor, but in yours. When you can create negotiations that are slanted in your favor, or are largely in your favor without making enemies, then you know that you've mastered the process.

When it comes to corporate situations, The Secrets of Power Negotiating by Roger Dawson will help business owners to improve their profits, and to create leverage for themselves. It will teach managers on how to become the best leaders in the organization. But this book goes far beyond the boardroom. Again, it bears repeating the all humans negotiate in every area of their life, even if they don't realize that they are doing it. Even children negotiate with their parents, and with authority figures. To this end, the book will teach parents about how to guide their children, and how to raise their children in a way that is fair, but that establishes them as the authority figures in their child's life. Readers can learn how to gain things, such as lower retail prices on their purchases. But they will also learn how to make people feel good, and thus improve their social situations, and their social standing.

Roger Dawson has had many years in dealing with people, relating to people, and learning what makes people tick. He has mastered the tool and the tricks that allows people to get their way in life, and yet leave others feeling good about the experience. He doesn't want people to make others feel negatively manipulated or toxic. But he does teach in the book The Secrets Of Power Negotiating, about how to be shrewd, and how to get the benefits for yourself that life has to offer.

Energy Take Classic 5.1

With so much of the focus these days on iPod speakers and wireless Bluetooth streaming, it's easy to forget there's a sizeable market for dedicated home theater systems. The Energy Take Classic 5.1 ($399.99 list) is a diminutive surround sound speaker set with a large sound. It's an excellent choice if you need a do-it-all speaker system for both home theater and music playback in this price range.

Design, Features, and Concept
For this review, I tested the Energy Take Classic 5.1 system with two home theater component receivers: a Denon AVR-1613 ($399.99, 3 stars) and a Yamaha RX-V473 ($449.99, 3.5 stars). Note that unlike most of the speakers we test, the Energy Take Classic 5.1 is unpowered. It's meant to be paired with a receiver, integrated amplifier, or separate pre-amp and amplifier components in a full-sized living room or den system. This is the more traditional way of putting together an audio system, which dates back decades, but I just wanted to point that out up front.

With that out of the way, let's get to the system itself. The black gloss vinyl finish looks clean, minimalistic, and sharp. Each satellite measures 6.9 by 4.1 by 4.1 inches (HWD) and weighs 2.9 pounds. The center channel measures 4.1 by 10.3 by 4.1 inches (HWD) and weighs 3.2 pounds. The powered subwoofer looks compact in photos, but it's surprisingly large in person, particularly when paired with the satellites; it measures 12.6 inches on all sides and weighs 19.7 pounds. All five satellites could sit on top of the subwoofer without hanging over the edges, just to give you an idea of the difference.

Each satellite contains a 3-inch poly-titanium woofer and a 0.75-inch hyperbolic aluminum dome tweeter. Energy rates the satellites' frequency response at 115 Hz to 20 KHz (+/- 3 dB). With a class-average efficiency rating of 89 dB, you wouldn't want to power them with a 10 watt tube amp, but that's not the crowd Energy is shooting for with this system. Just about any home theater receiver of recent vintage should have no problem powering the Take Classic 5.1. Meanwhile, the 200-watt bass reflex subwoofer features a 8-inch downward-firing, injection molded cone and a front-firing port. Energy rates the subwoofer's frequency response at 33 to 150 Hz (+/- 3 dB). There's a variable low pass filter you can set anywhere from 40 to 150 Hz, with an 18dB per octave roll-off.

Combination subwoofer and satellite systems (or "sub/sat systems," as they're commonly known) blend in with decor much better than full tower systems. They also tend to offer deeper, more powerful bass, and are natural choices for home theater systems where you may want a little more boost with the subwoofer's volume dial. Tiny satellite speakers also tend to do a better job of projecting a three-dimensional soundstage, assuming high-enough-quality drivers.Energy Take Classic 5.1

At the same time, sub/sat systems sometimes don't sound quite as natural or balanced as a properly voiced bookshelf or tower speaker; it's tricky to get the subwoofer's placement, crossover point, and volume level correct, as it changes from room to room and also varies on the listening position. And if the satellites are too small?the Energy system is pushing it here, at least on paper?you'll hear a hole in the upper bass and lower midrange region no matter what, simply because the satellite's woofer is too small to deliver enough full bodied response, and because at high crossover points, you'll be able to hear where the subwoofer is placed.

Performance and Conclusions
Fortunately, the Energy Take Classic 5.1 system avoids the above pitfalls. It delivers stellar performance, especially considering its reduced $400 price. In my tests, the satellites sounded clear and transparent, with a surprisingly natural-sounding midrange, and a reasonable level of detail for such a small speaker. The highs were airy and free of noticeable coloration, if a bit forward. I preferred the sound with the cloth grilles off, but that's a personal decision; I never find them 100 percent acoustically neutral, but I could be in the minority there. Down low, the subwoofer delivered serious extension and punch considering its size. With The Knife's "Silent Shout," our standard test music track for bass response, the system had no problem rendering the punchy 808-style kick drum and low-end synthesizer bass separately and distinctly.

To test the Energy Take Classic 5.1's home theater prowess, I used scenes from the the 2010 DTS Demonstration Blu-Ray Disc, and ran them through a Samsung BD-D5500 ($159.99, 3.5 stars) Blu-ray player and a Sony Bravia KDL-46EX620 ($809.99, 3.5 stars) LED-backlit HDTV. Arrow shots, voices, and horse gallops had sufficient clarity and distinction in Robin Hood (the 2010 film with Russell Crowe), and the Take Classic 5.1 had no problem rendering almost a dozen sound sources simultaneously throughout the sound field. In the DTS-encoded Despicable Me, the Take Classic 5.1 rendered the boom of the rocket ships and the low rumble while in flight, all while maintaining clear dialog and detailed sound effects throughout.

I initially ran into some trouble getting the right amount of kick out of the subwoofer, though that's typical of this type of system. Depending on the positioning, the subwoofer tended to sound a little soft and boomy, but only in terms of pure kick drum punch. The key in those situations is to turn the volume dial down, perhaps a little more than you'd expect, in order to get a balanced sound where the subwoofer doesn't call undue attention to itself. Ideally, though, spend the time to place it properly, as it pays off in dividends.

Overall, the Energy Take Classic 5.1 speaker system is an excellent buy, and could easily keep you happy for years. I'd be content just listening to music on it, which is not what I would say about many home theater-focused 5.1 subwoofer and satellite systems in the Take Classic 5.1's price range. A proper full-range tower or even bookshelf speaker will still deliver the ultimate in natural, balanced response, and don't need the serious kick and low-end extension of a powered subwoofer?NHT, Paradigm, and PSB are great places to start, although there are countless others. But for an ideal combination of home theater performance and music playback in this price range, the Take Classic 5.1 delivers.

Facebook, LinkedIn pledge more privacy, says watchdog

4 hrs.

Technology groups Facebook and LinkedIn have agreed to beef up their international privacy and compliance teams in response to demands from the Irish regulator, the deputy Data Protection Commissioner told Reuters.?

Recent high-profile data lapses, such as LinkedIn's security breach that exposed millions of user passwords, have highlighted the difficulties for web giants and regulators alike of protecting consumer data.

Some of the world's major tech players, including Google, have moved to set up their international or European headquarters in business-friendly Ireland in recent years.

Facebook's Ireland office, with approximately 400 employees, handles all its users outside the United States and Canada. The group has over 900 million users, most of them outside of North America.

Facebook, the world's largest social network, agreed at the end of December to overhaul privacy protection for users outside North America after the Irish regulator found its policies were overly complex and lacked transparency.

"They're beefing up their privacy functions in Ireland by bringing in people who've taken a lead in the U.S.," Gary Davies, Deputy Data Protection Commissioner (DPC), told Reuters.

LinkedIn, an employment and professional networking site with more than 160 million members, said it is bulking out its privacy team, with the appointment of a key executive at its Dublin headquarters.

"We are putting additional privacy resources in Ireland and moving one of our key directors to our International HQ in Dublin," a spokeswoman at LinkedIn told Reuters via email.

Davies confirmed that the DPC is currently investigating the LinkedIn security breach.

The Irish regulator will revisit Facebook's offices on July 10 to re-audit and will publish its report in September or October, said Davies.

Facebook, whose shares slid after its recent $16 billion IPO, said it had agreed to a six-month progress review in July.?

"Facebook has cooperated with the DPC throughout the review process and we look forward to updating them fully over the coming weeks," a spokesman at Facebook said, declining to comment on the enlargement of its privacy team.?

Data blunder
Data protection laws are under review in Europe amid rapid change in how people use the Internet and as services such as cloud computing - allowing data to be stored on distant servers to be accessed anywhere - become mainstream for business.

Google was scheduled to meet with France's data protection watchdog in June to answer questions about its new user privacy policy as part of a Europe-wide investigation being led by the French regulator.?

As most large U.S. tech companies have a substantial or lead European presence in Ireland, other tech companies such as Apple, Microsoft, and Twitter can also be expected to be examining designating Ireland as their European data protection regulator, said Davies.

The number of investigations opened by the Irish regulator in 2011 was double what it had been five years previously.?

LinkedIn will be subject to a routine audit over the next 12 months to check compliance with European Union data protection law, said Davies.

Cheaper cell phones with better signal quality: World's most powerful nanoscale microwave oscillators developed

ScienceDaily (June 26, 2012) ? A team of UCLA researchers has created the most powerful high-performance nanoscale microwave oscillators in the world, a development that could lead to cheaper, more energy-efficient mobile communication devices that deliver much better signal quality.

Today's cell phones, WiFi-enabled tablets and other electronic gadgets all use microwave oscillators, tiny devices that generate the electrical signals used in communications. In a cell phone, for example, the transmitter and receiver circuits contain oscillators that produce radio-frequency signals, which are then converted by the phone's antenna into incoming and outgoing electromagnetic waves.

Current oscillators are silicon-based and use the charge of an electron to create microwaves. The UCLA-developed oscillators, however, utilize the spin of an electron, as in the case of magnetism, and carry several orders-of-magnitude advantages over the oscillators commonly in use today.

UCLA's electron spin-based oscillators grew out of research at the UCLA Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science sponsored by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). This research focused on STT-RAM, or spin-transfer torque magnetoresistive random access memory, which has great potential over other types of memory in terms of both speed and power efficiency.

"We realized that the layered nanoscale structures that make STT-RAM such a great candidate for memory could also be developed for microwave oscillators for communications," said principal investigator and research co-author Kang L. Wang, UCLA Engineering's Raytheon Professor of Electrical Engineering and director of the Western Institute of Nanoelectronics (WIN).

The structures, called spin-transfer nano-oscillators, or STNOs, are composed of two distinct magnetic layers. One layer has a fixed magnetic polar direction, while the other layer's magnetic direction can be manipulated to gyrate by passing an electric current through it. This allows the structure to produce very precise oscillating microwaves.

"Previously, there had been no demonstration of a spin-transfer oscillator with sufficiently high output power and simultaneously good signal quality, which are the two main metrics of an oscillator -- hence preventing practical applications," said co-author Pedram Khalili, project manager for the UCLA-DARPA research programs in STT-RAM and non-volatile logic. "We have realized both these requirements in a single structure."

The SNTO was tested to show a record-high output power of close to 1 micro-watt, with a record narrow signal linewidth of 25 megahertz. Output power refers to the strength of the signal, and 1 micro-watt is the desired level for STNOs to be practical for applications. Also, a narrow signal linewidth corresponds to a higher quality signal at a given frequency. This means less noise and interference, for a cleaner voice and video signal. It also means more users can be accommodated onto a given frequency band.

In addition, the new nanoscale system is about 10,000-times smaller than the silicon-based oscillators used today. The nano-oscillators can easily be incorporated into existing integrated circuits (computer chips), as they are compatible with current design and manufacturing standards in the computer and electronic device industries. And the oscillators can be used in both analog (voice) and digital (data) communications, which means smart phones could take full advantage of them.

"For the past decade, we have been working to realize a new paradigm in nanoelectronics and nanoarchitectures," said Wang, who is also a member of the California NanoSystems Institute at UCLA. "This has led to tremendous progress in memory research. And along those same lines, we believe these new STNOs are excellent candidates to succeed today's oscillators."

Obese adults should get counseling, federal task force says

In a move that could significantly expand insurance coverage of weight-loss treatments, a federal health advisory panel on Monday recommended that all obese adults receive intensive counseling in an effort to rein in a growing health crisis in America.

The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force urged doctors to identify patients with a body mass index of 30 or more ? currently 1 in 3 Americans ? and either provide counseling themselves or refer the patient to a program designed to promote weight loss and improve health prospects.

Under the current healthcare law, Medicare and most private insurers would be required to cover the entire cost of weight-loss services that meet or exceed the task force's standards.

That could all change Thursday, when the U.S. Supreme Courtis expected to rule on the constitutionality of President Obama's healthcare law, which requires adoption of certain recommendations from the task force, such as this one on obesity.

Few private health insurers now reimburse physicians for weight-loss counseling or pay for programs that patients seek out on their own. A growing number, in fact, charge obese patients more for coverage ? a policy that some public health officials have denounced as punitive and ineffective.

The task force concluded after a review of the medical literature that the most successful programs in improving patients' health were "intensive, multicomponent behavioral interventions." They involve 12 to 26 counseling sessions a year with a physician or community-based program, the panel said.

Successful programs set weight-loss goals, improve knowledge about nutrition, teach patients how to track their eating and set limits, identify barriers to change (such as a scarcity of healthful food choices near home) and strategize on ways to maintain lifestyle changes, the panel found.

In some cases, programs include exercise sessions as well.

The recommendation, published online in the Annals of Internal Medicine, does not apply to the roughly one-third of Americans who are considered overweight, those with a BMI from 25 to 29.9.

It follows a November decision by Medicare to reimburse physicians for providing "intensive weight counseling" to the roughly 14 million obese Americans insured by the government program.

The new guidelines were met with cautious support by many physicians on the front lines of the nation's struggle against excess fat.

Dr. Jack Der-Sarkissian, a family medicine specialist at Kaiser Permanente's Los Angeles Medical Center, called the guidelines a "long-overdue" prod to physicians to help their patients control weight gain, which raises the risk for diabetes, heart disease and other health threats.

He cited a recent study that found that more than half of all obese patients had never been told by their physician that they needed to lose weight. "That's just not fair to the patient," said Der-Sarkissian, who leads Kaiser's adult weight management efforts in Southern California.

"You have to diagnose the patient and have the discussion, even if the patient doesn't really want to hear it," he said.

But Jeffrey Levi, executive director of the nonpartisan think tank Trust for America's Health, said the recommendations would put physicians in a difficult position: Few have the time or resources to provide obese patients with intensive counseling, he said.

And since programs meeting the standards set by the task force remain scarce, most doctors won't know where to send their obese patients.

"The question is whether the services will develop fast enough to meet the potential demand," Levi said.

Susan Pisano, a spokeswoman for the trade group America's Health Insurance Plans, said it was unclear how the report would affect the industry and patients. But, she said, "there's a lot being done" already by health insurers to help their enrollees lose weight.

Obesity and obesity-related diseases are already responsible for an estimated $147 billion in annual healthcare spending. Widespread adoption of the panel's recommendation would increase that spending, at least initially.

The panel acknowledged that one problem with its recommendation was that no studies have shown such intensive programs provide long-term health benefits.

There appear to be short-term ones. Two studies cited by the panel found that patients who received intensive counseling were 30% to 50% less likely to have Type 2 diabetes two to three years later than those who received lighter counseling, drug therapy or both.

But the counseling subjects' cholesterol numbers barely budged, and changes in blood pressure and waist circumference were, on average, small.

A pilot program considered a model by the task force is now being launched in 21 cities by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

It is based on a clinical trial, the Diabetes Prevention Program, that encouraged modest improvements in food choices and at least 150 minutes of weekly exercise for participants, who were at high risk for developing diabetes.

The subjects, who typically met weekly for six months and monthly for the second half of the year, lost between 5% and 7% of their body weight and reduced their diabetes risk by 58%.

Are you going to use Klout to choose your future real estate agent in ...

I suppose that I am feeling a bit more ?sheepish? than usual. ?I know that you know, there is?change occurring in this ?free world?. ?Curtailing of media sources, internet sites and within other aspects of life, used to influence our choices and causing us to make?determinations?on the whim of those pulling the levers.

What about choosing a real estate agent? ?If you had a friend that you liked, and they sold real estate, would you think twice about choosing them? ?If you hesistated, it is probably because you are worried about ruining your friendship with them. ?You have heard the saying, ?never mix business with pleasure ? or Never mix business with friendship?? ?I say Hog Wash to that old saying. But only if your friend is the BEST at what they do?

I would use my friend if they were involved in a service industry that I needed to use. ?As far as I see it, there is much more accountability in friendship when hiring a service professional. ?But, how good is your friend at what they do?

One of the problems with hiring a friend might be that they are horrible at the service they provide. ?Maybe they are hated or they are the ?talk of your sphere? in the way they don?t pack the gear to serve in their chosen industry.

That is when you have a?definite?dilemma. ?Your ?friendship? will now be tested when you don?t use them to help you and especially if they find out. ?How honest can you be with them? ?Can you say to them, ?Hey, I was going to use you for? ?But you are horrible!? ? or ? ?So and so is better???

If you don?t have a friend in the Real Estate business ? then how do you choose? ?Do you rely on one of the large real estate syndication websites to choose the agent that is paying for their service and for your personal information? ?What about choosing an agent that is constantly killing trees mailing stuff to your home. ?I know, what about the agent that is knocking on your door interrupting your private family time ? wanting to know if you want to sell or buy ? or if you know anyone that does? ?All these are the ?interruption? type of marketer.

What about an agent that is tops in their Field within the Santa Clarita real estate world, but always asks for permission to help you? ?Permission only asked when you are ready to do the hiring? ?

That is the way we love to play this real estate game. ?We are dug in within all of the Social Media platforms within the Real Estate community. ?We offer that to our clients when it comes to getting them what they want that is real estate related. Selling a home or helping them find the perfect one to buy. ?Before you embark on a real estate ?seek and destroy? mission ? try to contact a local expert that is appearing high in the search engines from writing content and answering questions. ?That is the truly the ?sweet spot? within the real estate representation world.

What is our Klout Score within real estate

Cumming, GAJune 17, 2012: Stone Age Masonry is stepping into our modern world and bringing sophistication back to Cumming, GA. They offer brick masonry services ranging from wood-fired ovens, stone patios, landscape lighting, landscape design and installation and Outdoor kitchens with pizza ovens. Hugh Dixon, owner and president of Stone Age Masonry stated that he was wanted to help local homeowners increase the value of their homes, and increase the aesthetic appeal of the area.

benefits beyond beauty

  • Easy maintenance
  • Resistance to weather changes
  • Sturdiness
  • Environmentally friendly products
  • Unique design

Stone Age Masonry is offering unique and quality work.

As Georgia continues to struggle during these economic times, and people are unable to afford high maintenance and insurance costs, Georgians are looking for another avenue. Hugh Dixon has quite literally "paved" the way. Mr. Dixon employs a team of professional and knowledgeable individuals who are skilled in landscaping, wood fired ovens, stone patios, lighting, Indoor Outdoor Kitchens and more. With these improvements, the home is more stable and the value increases while the insurance rates decrease.

If the economic value were not enough of a game changer, the environmentally friendly brick and stone allow the consumer to live guilt free. There are no harsh chemicals and no seasonal treatments necessary which requires less work and a nature friendly environment with Outdoor fireplaces Duluth.

Finally, because no one wants a home that looks exactly like their neighbors, Mr. Dixon and his employees offer a unique design for each customer reflecting their individual personalities.

Rarely does a business go above and beyond, not only beautifying their environment, but encouraging people to make more nature-friendly decisions while improving their standard of living.

Hugh Dixon has taken his business Stoneage Stonescapes to another level, raising the bar for all businesses in the northern Georgia area. In addition to the beauty, sturdiness, economic value, and ease of maintenance, Stoneage Stonescapes is offering free estimates. Fresh strawberries from the garden

Fresh strawberries from the garden

These past few weeks had not been too bad. In fact it has been surprisingly beautiful most of the time. It?s a real frustration not to be out and about but to stay at home, hopping around on crutches. But then not all is bad. I had the time of my life watching The French Open and The Queen?s tennis competition on TV. Wimbledon tennis is here now and soon will be London Olympics. Olympics trial is also here. Had just finished watching the Royal Ascot horse racing over the weekend. Then of course I am always very thankful for my blog and all the friends that I made through blogging.

I must say I have never felt so much cared and loved by so many people around, especially my friends here. Every now and then I am surprised with delicious food delivered to my home. There are some that I forgot to take pictures?.*sigh*. Also, there are too many to upload here. You can see that I am very well fed?..*big smiles*. I sure need LOTS of exercise when I can get back on my feet. Having said that, hopping around on my crutches is seriously no joke. It is very tiring! It?s also about balancing act which I am still not too good at. I should have learned some acrobatics before?..haha.

There?s one special friend that really touched my heart! She called almost everyday and she even came by bus which took her at least an hour to get here. Once she brought all the ingredients and cooked here. We had a most wonderful time chatting and laughing. I was so touched by her love! She cooked fried egg noodles, fried rice noodles and a sweet dessert drink and a lot of other goodies.

One of the best food that she bought which I had never tried before was the smoked salmon?.a big piece! It was absolutely delicious eaten with rice or added to salad. She told me she bought it from Costco.

Not only that,?her teenage son even played guitar to entertain me! I feel so honoured?*big smiles*. That?s so sweet of him. He had just taken up guitar and I am really so happy for him, proud that he is willing to learn.

On another occasion, she made rice dumplings and asked a friend to bring to my house. It has been a LONG time since I last ate one. So you can imagine how thrilled I was to eat them. They were really delicious. My family liked it very much. It was dumpling festival on 23 June and I heard that glutinous rice and dried bamboo leaves which are needed to make these dumplings were all sold out in the Chinese supermarket!

Those back home in Malaysian and other Asian countries are very lucky. You can buy them from the shop any time but not over here in Aberdeen. We have to make if we want to eat. In a way it is good because we learn how to make a lot of food that we miss. This is really the place where I have learned a LOT of cooking and baking?.*big smiles*.

Beautiful and delicious chocolate pizza

Another food surprise was Chocolate Pizza. My gosh?..I have never seen such a BIG piece of chocolate. Must be 12 inches across. It?s so beautiful and tastes really good. Worth all the calories?.*wink*

One day, my door bell rang. Oh wow?.so surprised to see a dear young friend at the door with a bag of hot food for my lunch. Her mom cooked the food. That was the best lunch that I had after my leg injury. Everything tasted so delicious. We had salmon, dumplings (boa zhi) and pork rib soup (pictures here above). I ate a big plate of rice?..*big smiles*

Roasted duck wrap

Roasted duck wrap

On another occasion, I received a phone call from a friend. She said she was coming with roasted duck, her signature dish. Oh, I really love her roasted duck. It?s simply the best. Immediately, I told myself I need Chinese pancakes to make duck wraps?.mmm. My girl helped me to make the pancakes. We enjoyed it very much. My family always love duck wrap. It?s so fun to eat. I kept the bones for making rice porridge. Nothing is wasted!

Rhubarb pie

Rhubarb pie

Looks like most of the food are savoury. But no, wait. A friend came by with rhubarb and almond pie. It must have been fresh from the oven and straight to my house. It was still very warm when she came. That was one of the best pie that I have ever eaten! We almost finished the whole pie after she left. I never knew rhubarb makes such a wonderful pie. My family liked it very much. I have to learn how to make it. She had just given me the recipe??.yay. She told me I can use apples or pears to replace the rhubarb if I want to.

Chocolate mint cheesecake

Chocolate mint cheesecake

I also received a cheese cake. It?s the biggest cheesecake I have seen! Must be 12 inches across. It?s chocolate mint cheesecake. It?s very rich but very delicious. I love mint so I really like this cheesecake.

Another lovely friend came straight from the strawberry farm with a basket of very fresh strawberries! (first picture on top). They went there for strawberry picking. Awww?how I miss that! The strawberries were so delicious?mmm. I actually had them for dinner?*big smiles*. Maybe that?s the way to losing weight?.haha.

Other friends came with food to join me for lunch or tea time. So, you can see how happy I am! I feel so loved, cared for and so pampered. It sure makes my days pass by quicker. I?m just really so thankful to all my friends, and of course my family too.

My girls and hubby had been giving me a lot of surprises with some of their cooking skills. But I must say, my hubby chickened out after a few days. Reason?.he lose out to the girls?.haha. Well, actually by the time he gets home from work, dinner is already there. Lucky man huh!

Life is no fun if I keep receiving and eating only. I had learned to fight my way into the kitchen to cook and bake if I can, with lots of my influencing and negotiation skills of course?.*grin*. Actually I end up more like begging until I won??haha. My girls know that a bored mom is a dangerous mom and a happy mom recovers faster!

I?m really happy that I was able to make quite a few delicious food, with lots of help from my girls. They have been fantastic. I think it?s very good because it?s hands-on training for them. I am just so proud of myself that I can still cook and bake. Won?t show here. You have to come back?*wink*. I won?t make you wait long though. Will be back very soon to show you what I made and also the recipes.

Till then, see you in my next post. Hope you have a great start to a new week.

Quote of the day??

?There are no real successes without rejection. The more rejection you get, the better you are, the more you?ve learned, the closer you are to your outcome? If you can handle rejection, you?ll learn to get everything you want.?

Faatima Evans: 5 Mistakes New Couponers Make

Last week I told you how to get started couponing, this week I will tell you some of the mistakes majority of us couponers have made. Learn from our mistakes!

1. Before you head to the grocery store, you should know exactly what your total will be before and after coupons if you did all your homework. Math is a HUGE part of couponing. There is nothing more humiliating than when your total before coupons comes to $700.00 and you end up paying $338.00, when you thought you were going to pay $100.00. This is the sound you will hear in your mind... "Womp, Womp!" Make sure you do your math before heading to the store!

2. Always make sure you check the expiration date and size restrictions on your coupons before heading out to the store. It will greatly affect your total if the coupon is expired. Make sure the coupon is valid and always get the correct size the coupon calls for.

3. It's important to know that you don't have to run out to do EVERY deal that comes along. Couponing is HARD work plus you don't want to end up with stuff you will NEVER use (unless you plan on donating the item). You must have self-control. The purpose of couponing is to save money, but if you end up trying to take advantage of every deal -- whether it's a good deal or not -- are you really saving money? Nope.

4. Always try to follow coupon etiquette. One way to follow etiquette is to avoid clearing shelves. Imagine that the closest Walmart is 30 miles from your home; you have done all the math, and checked the expiration dates on your coupons. Now, with your list in hand and your homework done, you get to the store and fin that someone has cleared the shelf. You have wasted time, energy and gas! Nobody likes "Shelf Clearers," they give couponers a bad rap.

5. This is the most important thing to remember -- you don't have to use the coupon as soon as it comes out! Be patient and wait for the right sale. Learn prices on the products you use most so you can recognize a "stock up" price when you see it. If the stock up price doesn't come around before the coupon expires... oh well... use your stockpile.

Well guys I believe this will be my last blog post for some time as the finale of TLC's Extreme Couponing airs tonight at 10/9c.

So please make sure to come by my page, to say hello! Thank you for allowing me in your lives if only for a moment.

Faatima Evans

Quest Software gets higher takeover bid of $2.32B

(AP) ? Quest Software Inc. said Monday that it received a higher buyout offer worth about $2.32 billion from an unnamed buyer, continuing a battle for the technology services provider.

The most recent offer of $27.50 per share follows a string of increasing bids that began after the company announced in March that it was being bought by investment firm Insight Venture Partners for $23 per share. At that time, the Aliso Viejo, Calif., company said the deal valued it at about $2 billion.

The March bid was a 19 percent premium to the company's closing stock price the day before the deal was announced. The $27.50 per share offer announced Monday would represent a 42 percent premium to Quest's ending price of $19.40 from March 8.

Shares of Quest, which helps companies manage databases and provides other corporate IT services, rose $1.39, or 5.3 percent, to $27.61 in midday trading Monday. That suggests investors think there may be yet another, higher offer coming.

Quest said Monday that its board has decided that the most recent $27.50 per share bid is superior to prior offers and that it has informed Insight and Vector Capital, which was added to the buyout group this month. Insight and Vector have three days to match the offer.

While Quest did not say Monday who the other bidder was, reports published last month said that Dell Inc. was in discussions with Quest about a potential transaction. Quest declined to comment further on who was behind the bid announced Monday, while Dell did not immediately return messages.

Earlier this month, an undisclosed party offered to buy the company for $25.50 per share, or about $2.15 billion. Last week, Insight and Vector topped that with a bid of $25.75 per share.

In the event that shareholders who previously supported the deal with Insight do not support the most recent offer, the company will grant the unnamed bidder the right to buy new shares of the company's stock equal to a 19.9 percent stake, or pay it a break-up fee under certain circumstances.

Quest's CEO Vinny Smith had agreed to support Insight's offer in March, which would allow him to roll his 34 percent stake in Quest into the private company and remain CEO.

Quest declined to say Monday if there were other shareholders involved.

Smith became CEO in February.
